What You’ll Be Doing

The Cadmus Group is seeking a Project Control Manager to support its continued growth. This position will report to the Director of Financial Operations and oversee 6 staff. They will oversee the day-to-day management of the Project Control team, develop briefings, support integration activities, and manage system upgrades for the forecasting module. They will also analyze and maintain project/program estimates at completion / estimates to completion (EACs / ETCs) for multiple projects of varying contract type, size, complexity, and risk level. They will work closely with project managers to provide recommendations on managing project financials and supporting financial forecasting and reporting functions. The ability to speak knowledgably about project control processes and requirements is crucial to this position.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and possess strong interpersonal skills. They will be able to work independently, and problem solve financial-related concepts. The candidate should be flexible to accommodate changing priorities and requirements. They should anticipate significant interaction with senior leadership teams, project managers, and accounting and contracting staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day Project Control team

  • Manage and lead associated processes that are owned by the Project Control team (e.g., staff planning process, initial backlog review, monthly financial close processes, loss reporting, report distribution)

  • Develop briefings and conduct analysis to support practice, line-of-business, and Division leadership teams (e.g., project management reviews, financial management reviews, business reviews), as assigned

  • Conduct dashboard analysis and explain findings to relevant stakeholders

  • Manage testing cycles for system upgrades in the forecasting module (Deltek Budgeting and Planning); ensure the database is well maintained (e.g., trouble shoot and clean up the database), as required

  • Support development and creation of custom Power BI applications and reports

  • Support integration activities (e.g., lead forecasting-related activities, obtain EACs for integrated projects, reconcile/troubleshoot integrated projects in the forecasting module), as assigned

  • Support revenue recognition on FFP projects

  • Train project managers on reports and financial management best practices

  • Participate in project set-up meetings, providing guidance, as necessary

  • Assist project managers with EAC spend plan creation and maintenance

  • Review and analyze monthly project costs and revenue; monitor actual cost performance against plans/budgets; prepare variance analysis, reports, and presentations timely to project managers

  • Analyze and report on project profitability

  • Provide accurate data for inclusion in corporate revenue forecasts and staff plans

  • Support any ad hoc analysis, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in government contracting and commercial consulting space performing in a Project Control, Finance / Accounting, or related role

  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience using Deltek Costpoint Budgeting and Planning (or a similar forecasting system)

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience using Cognos Enterprise Reporting / Cognos Analytics (or a similar reporting tool)

  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience

  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills and proficiency with MS Office

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels within the organization

  • Demonstrated experience managing people and managing multiple, simultaneous processes from initiation to successful completion

  • Ability to manage one's own time to develop, prioritize, organize, and perform work

  • Ability to work independently and in group settings

  • Strong background working with multiple contract types (CPFF, T&M, FFP)

  • Knowledge of Federal contracting project control requirements

  • Ability to analyze project financials using EAC/ETC modeling, conduct variance analysis, and make recommendations (e.g., profitability impacts, risk mitigation measures)

  • Prior Project Management experience a plus

  • Prior experience with macro development a plus

  • Prior experience with integrating acquired companies into existing forecasting systems a plus

  • Ability to determine KPIs (with input from stakeholders) and how to present them is desired

  • Comfortable using OneNote and SharePoint to document work clearly and save it centrally is desired

Additional Information:

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizen.

  • The preferred applicant will reside in the Washington, DC Metro area (DC, MD, VA) and open to Hybrid work environment.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $120,000. The actual salary may be higher and will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
