Walmart (USA) Staff, Software Engineer SAP Payroll Expert in Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior SAP Payroll Functional Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7-8 end-to-end SAP Payroll implementations with 2-3 being large scale. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the largest-ever payroll implementation for 1.8 million associates. Your responsibilities will include translating requirements into technical solutions, gathering necessary information, such as design documents and product requirements, and developing code. You will also conduct unit testing, communicate status and issues to team members and stakeholders, collaborate with project and cross-functional teams, troubleshoot open issues and bug-fixes, ensure on-time delivery and hand-offs, and provide leadership to the project team.

You will lead a team of ten to twelve SAP Payroll Technical and Functional Consultants, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects. This involves providing pertinent documents, direction, and examples to guide the team, identifying short and long-term solutions, establishing project timelines, and reviewing proposed solutions. Additionally, you will perform design, configuration, and code reviews of SAP Payroll changes.

Your role will also involve troubleshooting business and production issues by gathering information, leading support teams in issue resolution, formulating action plans, performing designated actions, interpreting results, conducting root cause analysis, and completing necessary documentation.

Additionally, you will provide support to the payroll business by addressing user inquiries, concerns, and issues. This includes assessing technical feasibility, developing implementation strategies, identifying short and long-term solutions, facilitating resolutions, and leading cross-functional partnerships.

Furthermore, you will take the lead in the discovery phase of medium to large projects. This includes collaborating with the SAP product team, project management, payroll business, and user experience teams to develop high-level designs and obtain cross-functional approvals.

In summary, you will demonstrate expertise in developing and executing action plans, support the implementation of business solutions, model compliance with company policies and procedures, and ensure successful delivery of Payroll with a focus on architectural qualities. Your role will involve extensive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, coaching on appropriate solutions, and driving efficient technical solution design.

What you'll do:

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with business users and process owners, in partnership with SI partner, to identify requirements, design enhancements, and functionality to meet payroll business needs.

  • Facilitate problem-solving discussions with the business, internal teams, and project managers to resolve issues and maintain project continuity and requirements.

  • Experience in year-end activities.

  • Excellent written and communication skills.

  • Develop high-quality, scalable, performance-effective, and customer-centric solutions in SAP payroll for the US and Canada.

  • Perform hands-on configuration (customizing) work to support new and existing functionality.

  • Serve as the resident team expert for SAP Payroll configuration issues in both support and new implementations.

  • Design and review configuration and functional specifications, collaborating with ABAP HR developers to develop and test significant new functionality and enhancements.

  • Review unit test plans and quality assurance plans to ensure all requirements are met.

  • Provide oversight for various projects and change requests to assess overall impact.

  • Experience in both Agile and Waterfall project methodologies and tasks required during each phase of implementation.

  • Analyze current business processes and make recommendations for leveraging standard SAP product capabilities.

  • Assist in the technical preparation of Business Process Procedures, Test Scenarios, and End-user documentation.

  • Hands-on experience in the following areas: - Payroll Control Center (PCC) configuration - HRSP upgrades and year-end activities - BSI tax factory configuration and maintenance - Wage type setup - SCHEMA, PCRs & Taxes for US & CA - Garnishments configuration - Finance posting - Payment models - Taxability setup - Remuneration statement.

  • Experience in working in a blended delivery model (onshore and offshore) for greenfield and brownfield implementations and operations support.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to junior resources.

  • Preferred experience with mid-year/mid-quarter payroll go-live.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
