Job Description

Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. As the Senior Manager, Market Research , you will report to the Liver Market Research lead and be responsible for managing primary market research activities for Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC). This role will interact frequently with senior and executive management.

This position will contribute to primary Market Research efforts supporting the PBC launch and commercialization efforts within the US Commercial Liver Franchise along with other cross functional stakeholders.

*This position is located in Foster City, CA on-site/hybrid

Specific Responsibilities and skills:

  • Engages with key stakeholders to develop and execute market research to shape the strategies and tactics critical to successfully launching a new product in the liver space

  • Manages qualitative and quantitative market research studies, potentially among both healthcare providers as well as consumers including project objective identification, design, vendor selection and oversight, monitoring of data collection, data analysis and interpretation

  • Develops relevant and compelling presentation of market research insights for key stakeholders, including brand leadership and senior management

  • Keeps abreast of key market events and works to understand potential impact

  • Works with diverse counterparts (Commercial and Sales Analytics, Forecasting, Commercial Learning and Development, Managed Markets, Brand team), to understand sales and market trends and, as appropriate, recommend corrective courses of action or additional market research to clarify underlying causes

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • In-depth experience designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative primary and secondary market research. Demonstrated ability to ramp quickly and acquire in-depth knowledge and experience in a competitive market

  • Strong strategic thinker who understands the critical role of market research in developing commercial strategy in support of both in-line products and product launch. Ability to operate in ambiguous situations and determine focused objectives and a clear path forward in the face of open questions

  • Strong data analytical, interpretive, and storytelling skills. The ability to meaningfully portray and effectively communicate complex quantitative data in an easy-to-understand format is required

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, influence others, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines. Ability to work with a variety of personalities and skillsets

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing both to peers and brand leadership are required

  • ·Excellent project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment of competing and changing priorities. Must have strong task management skills to include planning, prioritization, objective setting, and meeting management and plan execution

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time

Preferred Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelors in Business, Economics or related field plus 8 years of relevant experience, or Masters, MBA plus 6 years relevant experience in market research, sales/marketing analysis, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry. Rare Disease experience a plus, but not essential.

  • Significant experience conducting quantitative and qualitative primary and secondary market research is required. Expertise in a broad range of qualitative and quantitative market research techniques, including appropriate application of data collection and analytic approaches is preferred.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree and 10 years of experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience or

  • Masters' Degree and 6 years of experience or

  • Ph.D.

The salary range for this position is: $165,580.00 - $214,280.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
