Ithaca College CERACCHE STUDIO ART COORDINATOR in Ithaca, New York

Job Summary:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Ceracche Center studio art area labs and studios, including the set-up of studios for instructional use; assist faculty in maintaining equipment and studio spaces; purchase and process payment of materials; and supervise Art Models, Art Monitors, and Teaching Assistants.

Job Requirements:

  • Hire and coordinate the work of supportive personnel; train and instruct one Teaching Assistant, one Gannett Computer Lab Monitor, and several student Art Monitors as determined by the art faculty. Interview, hire, train, schedule, and supervise 8-12 Art Models and student employees in general tasks. Obtain documentation for I-9 completion and process new hires and terminations using the HR/Finance Cloud platform. Monitor job performance and arrange for substitute models. Approve and submit timecards. Maintain the Art Model salary budget and schedules. Arrange for Art Monitors and Teaching Assistants to attend a New Student Employee Program session.

  • Assist art faculty in ordering and receiving supplies through the procurement system as a delegate. Process invoice payments and reconcile procurement card charges for purchases of art supplies. Collect and file studio art credit card statements.

  • Help maintain the Ceracche computer Mac Lab by ordering supplies, coordinating equipment maintenance, and helping maintain the digital equipment reservation system.

  • Keep track of faculty lab supply purchases. Keep a spreadsheet of each faculty’s budget and their individual purchases for both credit card purchases and procurement purchase orders. Send an updated classroom budget sheet at the beginning of each month to each faculty member.

  • Work with art faculty and Handwerker Gallery Director to organize the annual Senior Art Exhibition, coordinating the jurying process, and assisting students with the necessary paperwork.

  • Coordinate Ceracche facilities scheduling, maintenance, and repairs with faculty and appropriate offices, including coordination with athletics and events in shared areas.

  • Proctor student course evaluations in the Ceracche Center or schedule Art Monitors to do so in the evening.

  • Serve as the welcoming face in the studio art front office, answering questions as needed.

  • Work with contracted services for Ceracche (Safety Klean, Aramark/Vestis, and Airgas).

  • Work closely with the Art Department Administrative Assistant in obtaining departmental goals.

  • Develop and demonstrate multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.

  • Coordinate/schedules studio-art/Ceracche-specific activities, like BFA Reviews, Art Honors presentations, Senior Project final exams/critiques. Working with the Art Area Coordinator, faculty, and students to schedule common times/locations.

  • Organizing rooms/chairs for Artist Lectures and other events happening in Ceracche.

  • Creating Intercom announcements for the studio art area.

Qualifications:

High school diploma; in-depth knowledge of various word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications required. 3 years previous office experience preferred. Excellent attention to detail, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment; experience maintaining and monitoring departmental budgets and expenditures, ability to prioritize projects, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines are required. Previous experience working with an on-line student information system in a College or University is preferred. College study or professional experience in studio art or related field preferred.

This position is Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 3pm.

This position is 30 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.
