About the Role

The Aviation Project Management division is primarily responsible for planning, managing and successfully delivering a portfolio of dozens of capital and operating projects across the airport system. Each project is managed with six core project management requirements – scope, schedule, budget, stakeholders, risk, and quality.

The Aviation Project Manager (PM) is responsible for orchestrating the efforts of various internal and external stakeholders often with competing interests. You will be responsible for overall technical knowledge and understanding of various assets including airside/landside/utility plants such as HVAC system/substations etc.

Responsibilities

Project Planning

  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, considering the scope, objectives, and constraints of aviation projects. Identify key milestones and critical path activities.

  • Maintain project documentation including progress reports, change orders, and relevant records.

  • Allocate and manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure that project activities are carried out efficiently.

  • Perform asset management on projects ranging from aeronautical infrastructure to landside infrastructure, landscaping, to terminal infrastructure.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with "core facility” associates (Properties, Operations, Maintenance, etc.) as well as other internal and external airport stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Lead cross-functional project teams, including engineers, operations and maintenance staff, staff from other supporting departments including Finance, PM, or Law to provide direction, support, and motivation to foster high level team performance through completion.

  • Conduct regular team meetings to review project status, address challenges, and ensure alignment with project goals.

  • Collaborate with the airport's Engineering and Delivery Teams to integrate systems and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory bodies, and internal project teams.

  • Keep all stakeholders, including Senior/ executive, informed about project status progress and address any concerns or issues that arise.

Quality Assurance and Risk Management:

  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential project risks, including technical, operational, and financial risks.

  • Ensure that all aviation projects meet safety regulations and standards established by relevant aviation authorities. Finalize projects, conduct post-project evaluations, and create final reports to assess the project's success and identify areas for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience working in and leading multi-disciplinary teams that includes internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proven experience in delivering project and putting together project plans.

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.

  • Any project management experience with a focus on but not limited to airport operations, infrastructure, maintenance operations, or aviation polices.

  • Knowledge of aviation-related technologies, trends, safety, or quality standards.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus on engineering/architecture with additional qualification or experience in aviation management or related field.

  • Direct project management experience with a focus on aviation projects (I.e.: aeronautical infrastructure (runways, taxiways, electronics, signage, lighting, etc.), landside infrastructure (roadways, parking, utilities (power, water, wastewater, etc.), landscaping, terminal infrastructure (roadway frontages, buildings, gates, etc.).

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or a Registered Architect (RA) in the State of New York or State of New Jersey.

  • Certified Member (CM) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE)

  • Experience working with outside agencies (i.e. DOT’s and environmental, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of FAA guidelines, including pavement design Advisory Circulars, pavement design software, current construction specifications, or airport construction safety plans
