The role of Manager, Software Applications Development is an information technology professional who takes accountability for the directing, design, development and implementation of new applications and upgrades for systems to meet business requirements. This people management role directs the design of new applications from conception to completion and oversees the technical staff involved with the development project(s), including overseeing and directing software application upgrades.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that software applications development projects with clients are executed

  • Structure document library and access management.

  • Improve the design and update our SharePoint Portals,

  • Help setup automations and workflows within SharePoint.

  • Co-development of functional specification;

  • Provide advice on the design of the look and feel.

  • Co-develop all modules and reports for the whole system.

  • Facilitate the provision of training and support to users;

  • Develop user manual and training manuals;

  • Share SharePoint knowledge with the rest of the IT Development team.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science or software engineering or related

  • Certification in various programming languages

  • Scrum / Project Management certification

Required Experience:

  • Advanced experience with a strong background in all aspects of software application development

  • Advanced work experience as a Software Applications Development Manager

  • Hands-on experience with a variety of software applications

  • Hands-on experience with a wide variety of computer software, hardware, and peripherals, including Microsoft365

  • Advanced demonstrated experience in building, managing and leading software development people as a line function

  • Advanced demonstrated experience of dealing with relevant stakeholders, building strong relationships and negotiating with decision makers and influencers

  • Advanced demonstrated experience of delivering consultancy type projects, utilising Agile or Waterfall methodologies

  • Advanced experience of IT in a complex business environment with the ability to translate technical concepts into business terms

  • Advanced demonstrated experience of negotiation or management of third-party services

  • Advanced demonstrated experience in developing and implementing relevant strategies in a multi supplier environment, managing third party services

  • Has had previous people management responsibilities and/or allocation of resources within a department or project environment
