Citizens Commercial Operations Closer in Johnston, Rhode Island

The Commercial Operations Closer will be responsible for performing various tasks to support the Business Banking portfolio. Activities that support the application review, underwriting conditions, loan documentation, and closing processes for Business Banking are some of the detailed tasks associated with this role. You will be a critical member of the commercial client relationship team that is responsible for ensuring loans with varying loan structures and documentation requirements are closed and documented in accordance with the Citizens credit approval policy. You will be responsible for accurately booking loans into the loan accounting system, performing appropriate due diligence tasks, reviewing operational risk components, and ensuring conditions are met prior to closing or funding a loan. You will function as a gate keeper to ensure compliance and reporting requirements are met. As part of the Client Service team, you will thrive in this role by possessing strong verbal and written communication skills to interact efficiently and effectively with internal business partners, legal counsel, and clients. Primary responsibilities include

  • Perform due diligence and various tasks associated with preparing credit requests for Underwriting review

  • Responsible for ensuring loans are closed and documented in accordance with the credit approval

  • Effectively work with sales partners, customers, legal counsel, and third parties to clear all pre-closing conditions including environmental reports, appraisals, flood determinations, lien positions and title work

  • Draft and/or review loan closing documentation

  • Effectively manage a loan pipeline, communicating clearly and timely to sales partners and customers on status and conditions

  • Ensures all activities meet Bank, departmental, and regulatory expectations

  • Manage and clear post-closing legal documentation exceptions in compliance with bank policy

  • Provides exceptional customer service while adhering to Bank policies and controls and regulatory requirements to

  • Mitigate operational and reputational risk

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • 2+ years industry experience (banking, financial services, mortgage), knowledge of commercial lending transactions.

  • 3+ years customer service experience

  • 3+ years computer skills- ability to work with desktop applications and systems.

  • Knowledge of commercial banking documentation

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills

  • Solid understanding of commercial real estate transactions

  • Self-starter with the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Able to effectively liaise with relationship managers, legal counsel, third party vendors and external customers

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills

  • Highly motivated and team-oriented

  • Ability to manage and resolve moderately complex problems.

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to independently manage a deal pipeline while demonstrating a sense of urgency and attention to detail

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive environment while maintaining service level agreements.

  • Experience with AFS and Laser Pro applications are a plus.

Hours & Work Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 40

  • Work Schedule: 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday - Friday
