Associate Industrial Designer- Lifestyle Studio

Deepen your knowledge in color, material, finish, and pattern and sharpen your expertise with related technologies and processes.

Specific Responsibilities

•Champion CMF trend research and forecasting efforts

•Conduct trend research for the North American market.

•Network with CMF counterparts in Asia and Europe to establish global themes and regional differences.

•Participate in trend forecasting workshops and execute global trend report.

•Support development of CMF product strategy

•Know the competitive marketplace, including peripheral industries, and proactively research to remain up-to-date and aware of the latest.

•Conduct portfolio rationalization and competitive benchmarking to help evolve.

•Help establish strategic framework for high-impact kitchen and bathroom products, products, connecting into Kohler’s CMF strategy.

•Develop compelling CMF design solutions.

•Ideate concepts and refine final designs using a wide range of visualization tools.

•Collaborate with technicians and engineers to achieve physical prototypes.

•Contextualize product concepts by creating digital environments and physical material boards to help justify CMF proposals.

•Produce high-quality renderings that effectively illustrate CMF solutions; devise memorable presentation boards that convincingly sell CMF proposals.

•Prepare and deliver design presentations that garner excitement and advocacy.

•Partner with Advanced Materials team and identify new business opportunities.

•Act as primary creative conduit with Advanced Materials technical team.

•Actively seek new materials/processes that have aesthetic, function, performance, and/or business benefits (continuously build upon knowledge of new technologies, materials, and processes)

•Define and visualize aesthetic potential of new materials/processes and recommend product application(s)

•Prepare and present executive summaries on new materials/processes, highlighting business, performance, and aesthetic benefits.

•Collaborate with core team of engineers to advance material/process experiments and continuously instill CMF expectation.

•Manage Industrial Design’s material library (virtual and physical)

•Establish and maintain core set of materials / surfaces for use in digital renders.

•Maintain physical material library for use in presentation material boards.

•Remain up to date on latest building / interior design materials and incorporate key materials into libraries.

Skills/Requirements

•Passion for color, material, finish, and pattern Critical thinker and creative problem solver

•Masterful storyteller with exceptional visualization and presentation skills Self-starter with strong organizational skills and work ethic.

•Collaborative team player with a positive attitude Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Power Point.

•Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college in applied arts, fine arts, or craft disciplines. Internship/co-op experiences and/or 1-2 years of experience required.

•Preferred level of experience is 3-5 years with a consumer goods manufacturer.

Travel

Travel up to 15% within the US and internationally.

We will consider applicants requiring sponsorship for this opportunity.

The salary range for this position is $63,100 - $79,500. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
