In support of the vision of the Dean and Associate Dean for the Gould School of Law, the Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Communications assists the Executive Director of Alumni Relations with the design, implementation and management of outreach and communications programs to maximize alumni engagement with the Gould School of Law. The Associate Director of Alumni Relations is a key member of USC Gould School of Law Development and Alumni Relations team and plays a vital role in the school's ability to achieve its alumni outreach and engagement goals. Reports to the Executive Director of Alumni Relations.

The Associate Director of Alumni Relations serves as a primary point of contact for the law school’s 15,000-member international alumni population. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Associate Director plays a critical role in the administration of a robust annual calendar of alumni events, oversight of the alumni communications program, management of the Alumni Association’s regional committees and day-to-day operations of the office of Alumni Relations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Preferred Experience: 2-4 years in development or related work. Familiarity with CRMs and social media.

  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Alumni relations; External relations; Communications

Job Accountabilities:

  • Assist the Executive Director of Alumni Relations with all alumni events, programming, and communications.

  • Manage logistics for signature alumni events, including Gould School of Law Alumni Reunion, Golden Trojans Luncheon and JAMS CLE Day, in addition to a broader menu of affinity programing.

  • Coordinate Alumni Relations calendar of programs and regional events with other USC and USC Gould Alumni and Development colleagues.

  • Review USC Gould alumni web site and update content as needed with the Office of Information Technology Compose online class notes.

  • Serve as a member of management team for annual Gould School of Law Mentor Lunch with the Office of Career Services and Events.

  • Serve as member of management team for the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform.

  • In collaboration with the Office of Communications, oversee the design, production and distribution of 11 issues of theUSC Gould Alumni Newselectronic newsletter, including creation of a production timeline; identification of content and subjects; management of articles, writers and photographers; and posting to the alumni website.

  • Manage USC Gould Alumni Association regional committees, overseeing their events, providing technical assistance and support where necessary. Hold regular meetings with regional chairs to ensure effective communication and management of groups’ expenses and vendor payments with USC Gould Budget Office.

  • Manage Gould Alumni Relations and Gould Alumni Association’s social media outlets, in accordance with industry best practices. Serve as main point of contact for alumni constituent requests and updates, managing multiple email accounts.

  • Oversee Gould Trojan Family Magazine submissions to USC University Communications per communicated schedule.

  • Produce electronic and online marketing for alumni events, and manage registrations and follow up communications using Marketing Cloud and other available platforms, ensuring that alumni event attendees are recorded in Salesforce. Maintain a high-degree of proficiency with Salesforce (Central University development database) in order to identify, select, segment, and update constituents in support of alumni relations efforts and submit contact reports as required.

  • Acts as a trusted and experienced resource to development colleagues on alumni relations matters.

  • Represent Office of Alumni Relations at events, as required.

  • Will assist with both final exam administration and proctoring at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters and commencement each year.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven ability to engage constituents through newsletters, social media, events, etc.

  • Experience with customer relationship management databases, preferably Salesforce.

  • Experience in managing successful alumni relations programs and requisite materials, preferably in higher education.

  • Proficiency with Excel and Word.

  • Superior written, interpersonal, and verbal skills.

  • Experience working with and motivating volunteers.

  • High level of sensitivity to customer relations.

  • Ability to act decisively and to maintain flexibility.

  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work cooperatively to achieve common goals while continuously upgrading standards to maintain quality in all areas of responsibility.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

  • A sense of humor and belief in the value of collaborative colleagueship.

  • Sound judgment

  • Attention to detail and grammar inaccuracies

The annual base salary range for this position is $79,529.27 - $82,000 .
