About the role This position is responsible for the creation technical content for instruction sheets and other technical documents used for electro-mechanical products and layout of content into style sheets that align to company branding standards. This position collaborates with technical writers, technical illustrators and graphic artists to create accurate and comprehensive instruction sheets and manuals, including illustrations and related elements. Responsibilities Create effective technical copy to support new product and change management projects that is in line with corporate and branding standards. Collaborate with product engineering, product management, application engineering and other business unit personnel as necessary in finalizing optimal technical copy. Participate in brainstorming sessions with project team members to develop creative approaches and concepts for assigned projects; provide content and design suggestions and create materials as needed. Assist in the layout of instruction sheets, collaborating with technical illustrators and artists. Collaborate with legal department in the specification of warning statements into instructions as they relate to the safety of use and installation of the relevant product. Proofread and edit all intermediate steps between preliminary layout to production ready documents. Work with translation agencies in the request and receipt of technical translations per project requirements. Stays current with technical document production printing technologies and applies knowledge to layouts to optimize printed materials. Create and maintain a digital library of standard technical terms and translations for day-to-day accessibility and consistency. Manage digital backups of all work created and revised. Identify improvement opportunities and proactively work to improve processes and consistency across digital and print platforms. Assists in the creation of technical presentations, reports, training materials, and department procedures. Assist in packaging projects as assigned. Qualifications Ability to write clear and concise technical copy Ability to take verbal, visual and written draft inputs for the working of technical products and create instruction sheets that optimally convey their installation and use Possesses an understanding of basic copy fitting, art, photography graphic formats, layout and printing requirements Ability to write reports, correspondence, presentations and procedure manuals Ability to organize and manage work flow of simultaneous, multiple jobs to meet demanding deadlines Ability to analyze and interpret data to determine appropriate syntax, style and grammatical usage required for a particular project Ability to create and revise documents and diagrams in Adobe CC software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat) Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to work in a highly confidential work environment Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook Education & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in English, Technical Writing or related field Minimum 2 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Travel Under 5% What We Offer Comprehensive benefits include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance programs 401K plans with employer-matching contributions Tuition reimbursement PTO Paid holidays Volunteer time off For more information about benefits, please go to: https://careers.leviton.com/benefits Leviton is an EEO/AA Employer.
