The IT Program Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of complex projects or programs from project definition and intake to transition to full operational support. The projects may include Enterprise application transformation, Infrastructure or Cloud programs as well as new product rollout for both our Global Technology Operations teams or in support of our Lines of Business.

The IT Program Manager is responsible for ensuring a world class client onboarding experience. This includes the delivery of quality implementations, managing client communications, client readiness and driving project schedules; managing multiple concurrent projects with high touch internal and client stakeholders.

The IT Program Manager may have direct reports including project managers or coordinators.

Essential Position Functions

  • Leads and collaborated in the development of the program intake process including developing scope, schedule and cost for all defined projects;

  • Defines the goals and objectives of the program and defines individual team member’s roles and responsibilities for the duration of the program;

  • Manages multiple mid to large scale projects or one program ensuring that they will complete on time and within budget and that the solution aligns with/meets the business objective;

  • Partners with program stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of business objectives;

  • Provides program reporting to multiple levels of the organization;

  • Coordinates the daily/weekly project team assignments and monitors progress against the work plan to assure that objectives are met within the prescribed time, cost, and quality measures;

  • Identifies and assesses of potential program changes and facilitates change control board to approve or reject said changes;

  • Ensures the quality of the overall program through constant monitoring, control and auditing of the various initiatives following proven PMI processes and procedures;.

  • Reviews project work products/deliverables to assure results align with the methodology/support the project objectives;

  • Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing a project budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions

  • Continual identification, qualification and tracking of risks, defining mitigation and contingency plans, assigning appropriate resources, and constantly communicating status.

  • Provides written reviews to the functional manager for each team member on project performance;

  • Provides coaching and mentoring to assigned project managers and/or coordinators;

  • Provides leadership to the team and guidance to peers and team members in all areas of industry standard program and project management methodologies;

  • Keeps up-to-date and educated in skills related to all project management and ensures this information is disseminated throughout the process.

  • Responsible for ensuring the project team utilizes the tools and standards, processes and procedures



  • Ability to manage multiple Infrastructure, application software development or technical consulting projects simultaneously

  • Expert at managing large complex highly integrated projects within a technical environment

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to develop, lead, and motivate high-performing and diverse teams

  • Proficient in defining stakeholder communication requirements and developing and delivering communication plans

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to deliver project status updates and presentations to technical and non-technical audiences and to all levels of management

  • Ability to develop and deliver powerful project presentations

  • Strong conflict management experience. Effective problem solving and negotiation skills.

  • Strong meeting facilitation meeting skills. Ability to accurately estimate project activities and project budgets.

  • Ability to control costs while maintaining quality

  • Knowledge of industry standard Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) tools

  • Proficient in process and standards development, implementation and continuous improvement

  • Ability to identify new opportunities to add value to clients through additional tools and/or services desired.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint and knowledge of MS Project or like tools


  • 8-10+ years’ experience in technical project or program management

  • 10+ years’ experience leading technical resources, either in a PM role or technical lead capacity

  • Experience at defining, implementing and continually improving standards, processes and procedures utilizing industry best practice (PMI, ITIL, CMMI, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Agile best practices, tools, etc.

  • Experience developing project budgets based on the development of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and a 3 point estimation process.

  • Experience in successfully working within a matrix organization structure


  • Bachelor’s Degree - Business or Technology or equivalent experience

  • PMP Certified preferred
