Position Purpose

The Nature Center Technician assists with educational programs and in the maintenance of the grounds, facilities, and equipment of the Outagamie County Parks System at Mosquito Hill Nature Center.

This is a seasonal 2024 position that will start around May 20, 2024, at Mosquito Hill in New London.

The hours for this role are typically Tuesday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Occasional weekends and evenings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting the staff with daily duties including leading educational field trips, and staffing major public events.

•Cuts grass, trims trees and shrubs and performs other horticultural and gardening tasks.

• Performs invasive species control including identification and removal of undesired species.

•Maintains and cleans buildings and restrooms.

•Maintains grounds and trail system.

•May operate heavy or light equipment and assist with their maintenance and repair if qualifications allow.

•Constructs and maintains signs, boardwalks and small bridges.

•Some weekend work required.

•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • Must have the ability to lift items of 50lbs or more several times per shift

  • A background in Natural Resources is helpful but not required
