Vitalief Nurse Clinician in Newark, New Jersey

    Salary Range:  Market competitive - based on experience level.

    Work Location:  100% on site in Newark, NJ.  Work hours are either Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm, or at times there could be 4 day 10-hour work weeks.  No weekend work!

    Responsibilities:

  • Working in our client’s Tuberculosis Institute, reporting to a Nurse Manager, in accordance with professional nursing standards, skillfully administers total patient care based on the individual needs of persons with tuberculosis and their families.

  • Assesses the health status of assigned patients as outlined in the nursing standards.

  • Plans, implements and evaluates individualized care based on patient assessment and medical plan of care. This includes pre and post counselling.

  • Provides direct patient care or direction and supervision to other health team members to ensure proper implementation of plan of care.

  • Teaches patient/significant others about health/illnesses state and plan of care.

  • Ensures all procedures are performed based on established standards; demonstrates competency in performing all procedures within scope of practice.

  • Documents all aspects of patient care.

  • Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures.

  • Administers medications and parenteral therapies in accordance with policies and procedures.

  • Maintains patient safety, comfort and cleanliness.

  • Develops and maintains good human relations skills consistent with the principles of the program with employees, patients, medical staff, and visitors in accordance with performance of duties.

  • Reports all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences in accordance with established policies and procedures.

    Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university preferred.

  • Current valid New Jersey Nursing license and 2 years of clinical nursing experience is required.

  • Phlebotomy and Epic experience preferred.

  • Background in working with pediatric patients and individuals with tuberculosis is a plus (not required).

  • Knowledge of prescribing medication; advising medication management, treating people with addiction with evidence-based treatment.

  • Excellent communications and presentation skills - able to translate medical and Neurobiology into layman’s terms.  Ability to engage and educate healthcare professionals effectively.

  • Must be a team player.  The current team is multi-disciplinary. 

  • Very comfortable and confident (but not combative) interacting with the team in the clinic, including peer navigators and nurse clinicians. 

  • Proficiency in data analysis and report generation.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires standing 2/3 of the time, walking 2/3 of the time, requires sitting 1/3 of the time, use of hands to finger, handle or feel 2/3 of the time, reach with hands and arms, 1/3 of the time, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 1/3 of the time, talk or hear over 2/3 of the time. Ability to lift and move patients with/without reasonable accommodations.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: Vitalief partners with clients such as major medical centers and academic institutions that requires all on-site resources such as prospective Vitalief consultants to be inoculated annually for Influenza and successfully pass a Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) for Mycobacterium Tuberculosis.
