WR Systems Project Manager, Basic in Norfolk, Virginia

Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Location: Norfolk, VA

SUMMARY : WR has the opportunity for a Project Manager, Basic to be responsible for quality, productivity, on-time delivery, cost reduction, reporting, and overall management successful execution with our prototyping and production projects.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

· Manage projects that are complex, risky, and/or strategic in scope.

· Identify project requirements and project risk plans .

· Develop cost estimates and prepares quotes and/or proposals in response to Requests for Quotes (RFQ) and/or Requests for Proposals (RFPs).

· Monitor and control project schedule, cost, quality, and risk.

· Submit recommendations to senior and executive management in the development of long and short range project objectives.

· Develop and suggest programs and policies to senior and executive management that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and streams of revenue.

· Aid in the negotiation of delivery order terms and contractual changes.

· Recommend changes to improve productivity and reduce cost across several related projects.

· Support related proposal data calls, plans, and specifications.

· Maintain and manage relationships with subcontractors.

· Schedule and coordinate meetings with customers and key stakeholders.

· Supervise project staff and resources.

· Train and develop staff.

· Interview and hire staff to execute project requirements.

· Respond to inquiries in regards to project execution.

· Prepare routine reports for customers regarding project status.

· Examine estimates of material, equipment, and production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy.

· Provide input to program management in support of the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives.

· May assist more experienced program managers with special projects.

· Responsible for evaluating the performance of junior staff and/or subordinates.

· Assist in the selection, training, and development of staff.

· Lead production planning, capacity planning, and scheduling activities.

· Establish procedures and practices to ensure efficient operation and continuous improvement.

· Inform organization of required lead times, availability, and status of ordered components and consumables.

Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred.

· Three (3)+ years of experience managing projects, including some with moderate to high risk and/or complex requirements.

· Strong knowledge and understanding of organizational operation and business objectives.

· Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Project.

· Ability to perform the following:

o Adapt to frequent changes in workload and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate

o Take action when answers to a problem are not readily apparent in unclear circumstances.

o Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

o Analyze information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures in order to define the problem or objective, identify patterns and relationships, formulate logical and objective conclusions, and recognize alternatives and their implications.

· Keen attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

· Strong command of the English language and business acumen.

· Effective leadership and management skills.

· Strong knowledge and understanding of project management tools and processes including knowledge of industry standard tools and practices.

· Active listening in order to provide analysis and feedback to others where appropriate.

· Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of degree depending on contractual requirements.

  • Preferred:

  • Advanced Management Certifications and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
