Microsoft Corporation Security Senior Executive Communications Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Security Marketing team is seeking an ambitious, results-driven, creative Security Senior Executive Communications Manager to support an organization passionate about achieving storytelling and big business goals and shifting Microsoft’s leadership perception in security. This individual will craft and guide strategic messaging for the organization and its leadership, leveraging both strategic and creative storytelling including the use of multi-media/visual elements to effectively communicate the message. This person will collaborate closely with organizational leadership to deliver messaging that will help advance and support the business, product, and cultural objectives for Security.

In this role you will partner with the Chief of Staff to drive communication planning and strategy and focus on critical priority areas within Security and directly support our Corporate Vice President of Security. Responsibilities

  • Translates value proposition into effective communications strategies and storytelling that resonate with target audience(s).

  • Leverages both strategic and creative storytelling including the use of multi-media/visual elements to effectively communicate the message.

  • Internal Communications: Leads strategy development internally for employee communications (All Hands, Teams posts, organizational emails, security business emails etc.). Manages editorial calendar to proactively track communication schedule. Collaborates internally with others to create communications and develop platforms to inform and facilitate executive and employee communications aligned to priorities. Ensures alignment to corporate employee communications focus areas around building confidence in Microsoft mission and strategy. Drives the adoption and use of new technology and tools to help facilitate two-way dialogue between leaders and employees.

  • Leads executive communication strategy including internal communications, external communications, internal and external speaking engagements, and customer engagements. Develops strategy for thought leadership plan on behalf of leadership. Measures success and ROI of communication strategy utilizing data and metrics.

  • Manages communication editorial calendar and assists with the prioritization of requests.

  • Collaborates with others on the development and production of communications materials and deployment of communications tactics.

  • External Communications: Leads strategy development for external communications including blog content development and reviews, and social media plan in partnership with Public Relations.

  • Internal and External Speaking Engagements: Supports prioritization of speaking requests on behalf of leadership and owns through the request lifecycle. Maintains speaking engagement platform to track requests and repository of content. Responsible for executive thought leadership plan on how, what and when to engage in internal and external speaking opportunities. Develops materials for internal and external communications including briefing materials, scripting/messaging for internal and externals keynotes, presentations, media engagements, and events. Partners with external consultants as needed for main stage keynotes and communications. Ensures the use of current and relevant templates and materials. Builds on effectiveness of previously used materials.

  • Develops collateral materials (e.g., decks, blogs, talking points) for use in specific communications initiatives, speaking engagements, events, and key moments. Makes cause and effect connections to ensure content is consistent across the channels with which Microsoft is connected to a given audience.

  • Understands how audience is being addressed by others and the appropriateness of formats (e.g., Live and in-person, webinars, podcasts, posts, other vehicles) for one-to-one (1:1) and one-to-many (1:many) engagements.

  • Identifies and takes action to address potential reputation risk issues. Develops content to mitigate those risks.

  • Customer Engagements: Develops strategy and executes plan to support customer speaking engagements and meetings including Executive Briefing Center (EBC sessions) across security business leaders within Microsoft. Maintains customer meeting deck for customer engagements and dashboard to track customer sponsorships, meetings and follow-ups.

  • Communications Measurement and Insights: Measures, plans, and informs communication strategy by utilizing data and insights from internal surveys, platform data, and feedback channels.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 4+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years security experience and expertise

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years experience supporting senior executives in an executive communications role.

  • 3+ years experience working with social media platforms.

  • Experience storytelling to land key narratives.

Communications IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $101,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $130,000 - $213,200 per year.
