Objectives:

This position will coordinate, perform, document, and/or review chemical and physical tests on raw materials, finished products, and components according to established procedures. In addition, will be responsible for leading and/or assisting in Quality Control equipment qualifications; new method development, transfer and validation; and continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and conduct complex chemical and physical tests on raw materials, finished products, and components according to established procedures in support of products/processes and continual improvement efforts.

  • Perform hands on testing with HPLC (Waters/Empower), GC, titrations, and other common chemical laboratory techniques.

  • Perform laboratory analyses with a high degree of attention to detail and cGMP practices to achieve a high percentage of right-first-time results in accordance with data integrity requirements.

  • Assist in strategy and planning for the Analytical/Quality Control group in support of site objectives.

  • Assist in leading the day-to-day activities of the Quality Control group to ensure that customer service goals and strategic objectives are successfully executed in a timely manner.

  • Assist in efforts to develop, transfer, document, and validate complex analytical testing methodologies for the evaluation and characterization of chemicals and polymeric materials in accordance with internal procedures and external regulations. Write and review validation protocols and reports.

  • Perform and/or lead nonconformance and laboratory investigations for out of tolerance/out of specification data generated in the Quality Control laboratory

  • Use independent judgment to write and execute method development and validation protocols/reports.

  • Perform higher level lab functions including instrument calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance, and writing SOPs and OOS investigations.

Requirements:

  • BS in Chemistry, or related field, with a minimum of 3 years chemical laboratory / analytical experience preferably in an FDA regulated industry.

  • Experience with analysis of raw materials/finished products/final dosage forms.

  • Experience with analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV/VIS spectroscopy and other wet chemistry techniques, titrations, and dissolution.

  • Thorough understanding of GMP/ ISO requirements pertaining to laboratory operations.

  • Excellent oral and written communication along with organizational skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Method development/validation experience.

As required by New York State's pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For New York State, the range of starting annual base pay for this role is $60,000 - $98,000.
