Function of Position:
The Network Engineer, Coordinator I position within the Technology Services department will play a crucial role in the
design, implementation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure. This position will work closely with cross functional
teams to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our network systems. The position reports to the
Chief Information Officer or the Deputy Chief Information Officer in Technology Services.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure components utilizing modern technology such as Cisco and/or Fortinet
Implement and manage network security protocols and solutions to protect against cybersecurity threats
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality and uptime
Collaborate with internal teams to assess business requirements and develop network solutions that align with organizational goals
Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements to optimize network performance
Actively participate in network security initiatives and ensure network security
Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed
Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices to ensure the continued evolution and enhancement of our network infrastructure
Carry a cell phone and participate as a member of the on-call staff
Work occasional weeknights, weekends, holidays, and when the college is closed to facilitate systems upgrades, perform system maintenance, and triage security events as directed
Perform all required record keeping and documentation
Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief Information Officer

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of experience working as a Network Engineer, preferably in a Higher Education environment;
Solid understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and SNMP;
Familiarity with wireless networking technologies, including access points and controllers; AND
Earned bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited higher education institution, OR military training with the equivalent of 24 credit hours of relevant project management / technical content.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong proficiency in enterprise networking technologies, including routers, switches, and firewalls (example: Juniper, Fortinet, Cisco, or other enterprise vendors)
Experience with security solutions, such as Juniper, Fortinet or other enterprise vendor firewalls
Network knowledge of standard wiring, client LAN/WAN environments, network segmentation, and private/public IP address space
Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure components utilizing modern technology such as Cisco and/or Fortinet
Experience designing or redesigning secure networks and network segments
Experience with Wireless, Mobility support, or access control experience is a plus
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Experience in an educational environment
Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position salary range is between $60,000 - $75,000.
