At the core of this vision is Alexa Skills Developer Technologies, a close-knit team that’s dedicated to providing developers with the tools, primitives, and services they need to easily create engaging customer experiences that expand the wealth of information, products, and services available on Alexa. To accomplish this vision, we seek a talented and driven Senior Technical Product Manager to define and deliver world-class products and toolkits that make it easier for developers to create richer and more interactive experiences that take advantage of the broad range of capabilities that Alexa-enabled devices support - including designing and developing for voice, screen, and future interactive experiences.

As the Senior Technical Product Manager for Alexa Skills Kit, you will define the vision, product roadmap, and features for building conversational experiences leveraging spoken language technologies and machine learning. This includes enabling other teams in Alexa, other teams across Amazon, and external partners to create highly-engaging Alexa experiences and features that customers love using in their daily lives. You will create business requirements documents and develop a long term roadmap for tools, documentation, and developer support. You will also be responsible for collaborating with and guiding a cross-functional team of engineers and designers to achieve your vision. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background with superb analytic thinking and communication skills. A track record of defining market leading products that enable developers to bring their ideas to life is preferred.

A successful candidate will have passion for developers and experience in designing platform strategies. You have a background in software development and product management, specific to software platforms and ecosystems. You are highly analytical, able to work extremely effectively across multiple organizations, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into high-quality, simple-to-use products and applications that developers and customers love.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write product/marketing requirements documents and ensure clear communication and coordination of requirements to the business, design, and development teams

  • Contribute to the overall product roadmap and manage prioritization and trade-offs against developer experience, customer experience, and time to market

  • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners

  • Establish business processes and policies as well as metrics and indicators for success

  • Measure and analyze existing products and business models for opportunities to innovate and improve, providing additional benefits to developers and customers

  • Drive product launches including working with public relations team, executives, and other product management team members

  • Develop, report, and continually improve business performance metrics

  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with end to end product delivery

  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

  • Experience managing technical products or online services

  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight

  • Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
