Financial Management Services (FMS), a department within Business Affairs, is responsible for creating an ecosystem which promotes innovative and sound financial administration policies and practices that balance controls, compliance, and customer service. FMS is primarily responsible for financial policy oversight, quality assurance and financial services at Stanford University and its affiliated entities. It also serves as a liaison to the hospitals and the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC). Description

The Change Management Specialist will report to the Senior Change Management Portfolio Manager in the Financial Management Services (FMS) Business Strategy & Services group at Stanford. The CM Specialist will be accountable for the adoption success of several projects in the FMS project portfolio by managing the development and implementation of change management plans. Additionally, the CM Specialist will contribute to the ongoing needs of the CM operations to ensure our overall CM framework, processes and metrics are relevant, effective, and efficient.

Skills and Qualifications

Core Duties* :

  • Perform the full range of the change management cycle: prepare the approach, manage the change, sustain the outcomes, and apply FMS change management methodology (i.e., Prosci).

  • Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation consensus within change management scope of responsibility.

  • Act as change management lead on specific projects, performing oversight of the following change management components: o Develop and help execute a comprehensive change management strategy relative to project scope and stakeholders on a assigned projects: actively manage adoption to change and mitigate risks of resistance to change. o Develop an action plan, and estimate requirements for change management resources, and time required to complete the change management activities for specific projects. o Proactively engage with business owners and subject matter experts to understand project goals and assist with identifying and implementing business transformation and process improvement opportunities. o Work with the project manager, technical resources, and business analysts to understand the technology solution, development process, and go-live plan. o Assess the change impact — conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness and identify key stakeholders. o Support and align communication and web content planning efforts with the broader change management plan by providing input into the development of the communication plans and deliverables. o Support and align learning planning efforts— review and provide input to learning plans and deliverables. o Support and align client outreach efforts — provide input and assist with the development of outreach strategies and plans to increase adoption and prepare clients for the services and programs to be delivered. o Support and align post-implementation support efforts — review and provide input to the support plans as it relates to providing post-implementation support for the campus users. o Create actionable deliverables including: Change management plan (and integration into project plan), and coordinate the creation of, and contribute to other change management deliverables such as the Communication Plan, Training/Learning Plan, Client Outreach Plan, and Support Plan.

  • Identify and manage mitigation approaches to address anticipated user resistance and other change management related project risks.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience in change management of projects of moderate size/complexity, including planning and managing change management plans, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools (i.e., Prosci)

  • Demonstrated ability to consult and work collaboratively with business partners, subject matter experts, technical resources, vendor partners, and business partners and diverse groups at any levels of an organization.

  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to establish and maintain relationships.

  • Ability to motivate and influence others to move toward a common vision or goal.

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the creation of an environment that is service-oriented, supportive, engaging, and effective.

  • Demonstrated excellence in client service skills and ability to learn business concepts quickly.

  • Excellent project management skills and demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

  • Outstanding writing, editing, critical reasoning, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate the effectiveness of change management plans and improve as needed.

  • Experience interpreting business requirements, process flows, and functional spec documents would be beneficial.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Change management and/or project management certification desired.

Physical Requirements*:

  • Office work generally performed in a sitting position.

  • Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork.

  • Occasionally stand/walk, lift/carry objects weighing 11-20 pounds.

  • Rarely reach/work above shoulder.

Working Conditions:

Occasional extended working hours during peak cycles.

The expected pay range for this position is $111,000 to $120,000 per annum.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
