We are looking for a Research SDE II (Research Software Design Engineer II) to join the team.

Responsibilities

As a team member of Azure AI Services, you will participate in developing innovative machine-learning solutions to solve challenging computer vision and generative AI problems. Your responsibilities include the following:

  • Identifying, applying, improving, or creating research-backed computer vision solutions (e.g., novel, data-driven, scalable, high AI quality) to positively impact Microsoft AI Services products or services. Designing approaches to solve significant business problems in computer vision and generative AI. Applying research to products in a practical way that meets key business objectives.

  • Collaborating with researchers both inside and outside Microsoft, as well as development teams. Creating proof-of-concept during the process to demonstrate the approach’s effectiveness and impact. Potentially publishing research to high-impact conferences or publications to promote receiving new intellectual property for product impact. Integrating such proof-of-concept into computer vision solutions in Azure AI Services with platform development teams and partners.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of programming experience with C++/Java/C#/Python or equivalent.

  • Graduated with a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent.

  • Solid understanding of CS fundamentals and mastery of data analysis.

  • 3+ years of experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, or equivalent.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work independently and ramp up quickly in new areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with computer vision, generative AI, multimodal LLM, multimodal SLM, deep learning, and computer graphics.

  • Research publications in top conferences/journals, such as CVPR, ICML, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, etc.

  • Experience with deep learning frameworks, such as PyTorch.
