Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to perform technical document creation, writing, editing, and/or illustrating tasks on technical documents, such as organizational policy, SLA, user manuals, installation manuals, help documents, knowledgebase documents, product brochures, tutorials, flow charts, and packaging labels. Review documentation for organization, content, technical accuracy, and style. Ensure all illustrations are created to product specifications. Keep informed of product development activities to determine the need for revisions, corrections, and changes in previously printed materials. Prepare initial text formatting, edits, and create template-driven customer deliverables with speed and accuracy. The position uses advanced knowledge of firm standard applications, especially MS Office applications. Understands and anticipates customer’s needs to meet or exceed expectations. Works effectively in a team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create, edit and/or review content in adherence to Finastra standards, including those for software, Web, and documentation, with the ability to navigate multiple file formats, including Web sites, compiled Help, formatted technical and marketing documentation, and training.

  • Coordinate the completion and delivery of documentation for a project from planning to completion under general supervision.

  • Collect, clarify, and translate technical information in order to create documentation.

  • Produce accurate documentation that conforms to the style, format, process, and structure guidelines.

  • Research and make recommendations on new technologies by evaluating tools, procedures, and standards for documentation as required.

  • Research and develop an understanding of the marketing requirements for the product, including target audience and competitive issues.

  • Perform non-writing tasks associated with the production of documentation when necessary such as working with outside vendors and responding to special requests relating to documentation.

  • Organize and maintain various documentation assets.

  • Serve as liaison between the Service Managment department and other groups within the organization

  • Build and maintain working relationships with project team members and co-workers to successfully complete projects and assigned tasks.

  • Types, formats, checks mathematical accuracy, and spell checks all types of documents and templates.

  • Effectively utilizes styles, master pages and templates.

  • Reconciles revisions, checks punctuation, spelling, and formatting.

  • Imports graphical and data images into documents.

  • Proficient and remains up-to-date with software tools and equipment required of the position, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Skype, etc.

  • Shares knowledge among team members regarding the use of master pages, style sheets, and firm-standard formatting in word processing functions.

  • Effectively participates as a team player in planning, scheduling, and production.

  • Assists with training new Technical Document Specialist on policies, procedures, and functions.

  • Understands and strictly adheres to the quality standards and procedures established by Finastra including VI and branding guidelines.

  • Utilizes the time management tool/web based database to ensure all time and materials are billed correctly, project instructions and client interactions are fully documented.

  • Work closely with project requester personnel via email, phone, and in person to collect information needed to complete the project

  • Define project schedules and manage multiple projects simultaneously and keep track of project tasks and status using SharePoint/other management software

  • Maintain content confidentiality

  • May cross-train in additional service management disciplines to provide flexibility during peak times

  • Participate in team brainstorming and strategy

  • Collaborate effectively with peer group and maintain/exhibit positive attitude at all times

Capabilities Required (must have)

  • Strong written and verbal English grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage & pronunciation

  • Ability to develop workflows and business procedures

  • Strong interpersonal skills in both functional interactions and team interactions

  • Willingness to interact with onsite on a regular basis and willingness to work in any shift

  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle.

  • Strong research skills.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including Visio and industry standard documentation tools

  • Ability to maintain & access files in an organized fashion on both local hard drive & network drive

  • Ability to create effective end-user documentation using business requirements documentation and design documentation.

  • Ability to work independently or within a team environment and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience

  • 1-3 years relevant work experience.

  • Experience in technical documetation is a plus.

  • Experience working within a financial institution a plus.

Position Qualifications / Certifications

  • Candidate must have a Bachelors/Master’s degree ( English)

  • Relevant experience and trained in technical documetation

Having ITIL Foundation certificate is a plus.
