Job Summary

The general purpose of this position is to work under the direction of the Facilities Spec i alist III , in ma i n t ain i ng the overall operation of the facilities and equipment of the Texas Citrus Budwood Certification Program . This is a comprehensive role with responsibilities that extend to all areas of both facilities and citrus budwood and nursery operations . The pr i mary responsibility for this posi ti on is the facilities operation including all maintenance , repairs, construction, meeting certification , state and federal regulation standards , and any other necessary function relating to the facilities. This person shall provide excellent customer serv i ce to all business partners and customers . Potenti al lead-in to full time position when open. (Based on performance and availability).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assisting the Facilities Specialist III in the following maintenance and operations of the facilities and equipment of the Budwood Certification Program:

  • Ensuring that all screenhouses meet the certification standards required by the Texas Department of Agriculture the United States Department of Agriculture.

  • Ensuring that all operating equ ip ment in the screenhouses , including fans, fertigation systems, electrical equipment are a ll fully func ti ona l and in good operating condition .

  • Accompanying TOA and USDA inspectors on a ll monthly certification inspections and i mmediate l y address any issues or inspection violations noted by the inspectors.

  • Maintaining all equipment belonging to the department in good condition.

  • Assist on all projects, including but not limited to : screen or roof replacements, modifications of existing facilities, const ru ction , installations , fabrication , electrical and water projects .

  • Any other duties or tasks related to the general operation of the Budwood department.

Minimum Requirements

Education - Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience - Four years of related experience.

Knowledge of- Knowledge of maintenance procedures. Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions.

Ability to -Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to make close measurements and works with accurate dimensions.

Physical Requirements - Ability to lift moderately heavy objects. Ability to exert heavy force.

Supervision of Others

This position generally does not supervise employees.

Other Requirements

  • Attend and actively participate in training and any other development relating to the Texas Citrus Budwood Certification Program as required by supervisor .

  • Perform any other related duties as required .

  • Adhere to all safety policies and regulations set forth by the TAMUK Citrus Center and Texas A&M University- Kingsville .

  • Be willing and available to assist in duties in other areas/departments of the Citrus Center i f requested .

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Work flexible hours or beyond regularly scheduled hours when needed.
